Feminisme joyeux
Live performance by Chiara Marini Ferretti and Giulia Zini
Presented at Corte dei Miracoli, 2023
Feminisme joyeux is a hybrid project that was born from the meeting of different arts that, dialoguing together, reinforce each other and create new meanings: live music, video art and body performance. Our work starts from the need to dialogue with the theme of gender violence and the collective anger and pain that this brings and that often risks creating an unbridgeable internal and external rift. We start with the belief that image is responsible to a great extent for our patterns of relationships. The intent is to investigate our audio-visual modes of enjoyment that are perhaps the first to nurture dynamics of violence and prevarication; how we look and how we listen are the constituent processes of meaning that passes primarily through the gaze. The project involves the projection of FAME, readings from transfeminist texts and interaction with the audience through the rope object, with which the performers experiment with different ways of relating face-to-face with the spectators. The central node around which the performance work revolves is transformation: it is perhaps possible to find new modes of communication through the lens of relationship, understood as a possible ground for transformation and as a political act of reconstruction
fame
Codirecting e and video editing

Self-produced short film,2022
Fame is a video performance work that stems from the need to question the gaze that nourishes and shapes our modes of relating and the construction of our own identity. In this act/manifesto we witness the birth of a body that from its first breath suffers the violence within which it becomes trapped. It is a consuming and sexualized gaze that violates the nature of the creature itself which in turn consumes, devours but never nourishes itself. The work investigates the process of emancipation from the dominant gaze that the subject/object still experiences and suffers. The body is our primary instrument of personal knowledge, the seat of emotions and experiences; it reflects culture, imagery and all that we unconsciously absorb. How much can the gaze distort the body? What about the way we approach each other's bodies? If we changed the gaze, how would society itself change? What do we desire? What do we want, free from this gaze?
